Our Quaker Witness & Service
Friends have been led to take an active role in
community affairs, both as individuals and as representatives of the
Meeting. We currently have formal affiliations with the Interfaith
Partnership of Greater St. Louis, the Instead of War Coalition, the
Alternatives to Military Service Network, Project Lakota (supporting
efforts to improve housing on the Pine Ridge Reservation), and less
formal interactions with other efforts in the St. Louis area, including
Project COPE (an ex-offender assistance
program) and Citizens Emergency Response Teams. Our Social Action
Committee has been involved with helping evacuees from Hurricane
Katrina, and assisting with recovery work in Louisiana. Our Burundi
Committee raises funds to
assist Quaker-run schools and a hospital in Burundi.
